Case Study: Z-WEB Belts and FDA Stainless Steel Rolls

ARC Abrasives teamed up with a quality industrial supplier to test the effectiveness of Z-WEB wide belts to their current non-woven
belt. Our non-woven products were tested on food-grade stainless steel rolls that are created for food and beverage vendors. To learn more, download the white paper to read about how ARC helped increase production and efficiency to further impact their bottom line.

Challenges

The primary focus was to compare the performance of our Z-WEB belts to the current non-woven belts being used. The concern was based on the aggressive nature of the competitor belt, which left deep scratches and a disappointing finish on the stainless steel rolls. It is important for any stainless steel to meet the standards in the food and beverage industry.

Application

Operators were able to use a Z-WEB CRS and MED belt to minimize the scratch depth on the stainless steel rolls. The performance quality of the ARC belts exceeded finish specifications due to the longevity and optimized efficiency.

Conclusion

Changing to our Z-WEB belts brought on a 30% increase in optimized efficiency and production. The best outcome came from the improved quality of finish and minimized scratch depth, resulting with an increase in output and performance. Overall, the longer product life and improved quality brought in an annual $6,000 in cost savings.

Equipped with flexible backing and a 3D loading resistant material, Z-WEB belts deliver consistent cut rates and smooth finishes for high performance applications. Z-WEB material uses proprietary formula consisting of synthetic fibers, engineered nylon, and enhanced polyurethane resin. These are needled through an open 3D web structure, giving you a competitive advantage over coated abrasives.
